Hailing from the Miami, Florida neighborhood of Little Haiti, the musically inclined young MC known as DreLaylow emerged onto the independent hip-hop scene in honorary form. Paying homage to his older cousin Kervens Pierre, who experienced local music success of his own with his single “Laylow” prior to his death in a 2004 highway shooting, Dre decided to reincarnate KP’s music career while donning the name “Laylow” and put his years of music experience in the church choir and his knowledge playing four instruments to full use. Despite his shy demeanor, his passion for writing lyrical prose and poetry quickly combined with his ability as a musician and by high school he’d found liked-minded peers to partner with and they quickly developed a creative chemistry for recording music.
Shortly after high school, Dre was invited to a studio session by Jermaine Joseph, CEO of Unknown Nebula, who reached out to Dre after hearing one of his freestyles on Soundcloud. Impressed with the young MCs performance and charisma, Joseph then connected Dre to Oliver Reyes, CEO of HomeGrown Entertainment and the relationship parlayed the release of DreLaylow’s debut mixtape “Slim Reaper”. The single “Nebula N***a” caught the attention of a newly dedicated fan base to Dre’s music career as audiences noticeable recited lyrics during live performances. Dre reconnected with his high school partner in rhyme Tay LIFE and Yahwayy Entertainment to film two debut videos from “Slim Reaper”
DreLaylow alongside Miami Conspiracy won Best Rock Band at the 2022 Indie Music Channel Awards for their collaboration rock song “Don’t Give Up” . DreLaylow stepped outside of the box for this collab and you can definitely say it paid off.
